ECOLOGY Soham Kabra XB 4th April 2023 Ecology is a big puzzle formed by living organisms where they interact with one another and the environment around them. The word ecology was coined by a zoologist, Ernst Haeckel. It comes from the Greek term "oekologie" meaning "household" or "place to live". Ecology and biology are two interconnected fields of study that are essential to our understanding of the natural world. While biology focuses on the study of individual organisms and their structures, functions, and behaviors, ecology takes a broader view by looking at how organisms interact with each other and their environment. Ecology establishes a connection between many important environmental challenges we face today ranging from climate change to loss of biodiversity.
